Hippo Highlights - Jambohut
Written by hippo

JamboHut has the finest collection of African handicraft available anywhere on the internet.

Products include beautiful wood and soapstone carvings, stunning batik prints and handcrafted jewellery.

All the products are fairly traded and Jambohut is registered with the British Association of Fair Trade Shops.

Jambohut work closely with their suppliers, a number of worker owned co-operatives in Kenya. They have educated the artisans about the benefits of fair trade and set up comprehensive fair trading agreements, with a Jambohut representative present in Kenya to advise and assist the co-operatives as needed.

Jambohut donate portions of their net profits into joint funds held with the cooperatives - 12% for replanting funds and a further 10% for funds to be used in furthering health and safety in the workplace.

On top of this, 50% of net profit is used to preserve and conserve wildlife around the world, through the Andrew Hind Wildlife Trust.
